SSH connection refused port 22

I get a connection refused error whenever I attempt to connect to a remote ssh server, I tried the test at http://ssh.icannotconnect.com and it says outbound ssh port 22 is not being blocked. I'm wondering what else could be the problem.

Try logging on with "ssh -vv <user@remote-host>". That will post more debug information. Post the results.

Check the connection with the telnet client. For example:

Code:

telnet qosmio 22
Trying 192.168.1.100...
Connected to qosmio.
Escape character is '^]'.
SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_5.4

Protocol mismatch.
Connection closed by foreign host.

This test will indicate whether the ssh port is open on the remote server.

I'm not sure I follow here.

Are you saying that you are unable to connect to any server over port 22, or is there a specific server you are unable to log into?

Are you sure the ssh server are installed and started?
Do you get access to this server from some other computer?
Try to post the log error, here.
