i m using rhel3 on both pc and try top connect using ftp and ssh service. i have started portmap services on both the PC. also ssh and vsftpd server.
when i try to login with ssh i m getting following error.
[root@mail root]# service iptables stop
[root@mail root]# service iptables status
Firewall is stopped.
[root@mail root]# service sshd status
sshd (pid 5049) is running...
[root@mail root]# ssh 192.168.100.11
ssh: connect to host 192.168.100.11 port 22: No route to host
[root@mail root]#
## portmap is open of client Pc [192.168.100.11]
why it showing me "No route to host" error? it a new installed OS. iptable is off.
also, here is the hosts file configration.
## here the /etc/hosts file:
[root@mail etc]# cat hosts
# Do not remove the following line, or various programs
# that require network functionality will fail.
127.0.0.1 mail.netbeez.net mail localhost.localdomain localhost
192.168.100.20 host.redhat.com host
192.168.100.10 mail.netbeez.net mail
[root@mail etc]#
Tried using vsftpd server.
[root@mail root]# service vsftpd status
vsftpd (pid 12114) is running...
[root@mail root]# ftp 192.168.100.11
ftp: connect: No route to host
ftp> quit
[root@mail root]#
Please help me to get this issue slove. i have to use ssh and ftp services to do other stuff.
are you able to get a ping response? it looks like you may have a problem 'finding' the system (no route to host)
in the information you provided it was from host 'mail'. are the correct services (ssh,ftp) running on the system (192.168.100.11)you are trying to connect to?
if you are on 192.168.100.11 are you able to connect to host 'mail' on ssh?
ya i can ping to both the system. but the porbs is when i try to connect throguh ssh ot ftp i m getting same error messsages on both the pc..(no route to host) and must tell you i have reinstall on both ther pc.
so i do not think so i have to add route entry on both the pc. preiviously it was working nice. so still unsure what to do.
one more i have connect both the pc throgh HUB, NOT peer to peer. i think it might cause the probelm.
