well if you have a valid account on the college computer then all you have to do is open your favorite terminal xterm, gnome-terminal, aterm, etc. And type ssh <username>@<IP-to-college-comp> ie:
ssh linuxdude@123.123.123.123
This should work as long as they are running an ssh server and you have a valid account and permission to gain access to their computer.
