Question Squid - WCCPv2 Support

Hello there

I am trying to add a squid server into my cache array. An easy thing to do or so I thought until I came across the issue of WCCPv2. I checked on the squid cache site and it say’s that it’s not supported at current. But I have heard rumours about wccp and gre modules floating about on the net which will have the ability to make the whole thing work. I’m running a RH7.1 out of box server with the 2.4.2smp kernel along with squid 2.4.STABLE3. My Cisco kit is a 3600 Router (with wccpv2) along with a 500 series Cache Engine. I've searched on the net for clues but haven't been successful. So my question is there anywhere I can go to get the files or of anything thing I can do in my current setup to get it to work? Even partially?

Much appreciated.

HI,

I am still meeting the problems on the squid and WCCP. I have searched many documents regards cache engine, but still cannot solve the problems.

I configure WCCP version 1 works on my LAN. I use Cisco 2600 with version 12.1(5)T8. Hope this share with you

Setting of Cisco:
ip wccp version 1
ip wccp web-cache
ip wccp web-cache redirect out

Show IP WCCP web-cache detail:
WCCP Cache-Engine information:
IP Address: 192.168.15.7
Protocol Version: 0.4
State: Usable
Initial Hash Info: 00000000000000000000000000000000
00000000000000000000000000000000
Assigned Hash Info: FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
Hash Allotment: 256 (100.00%)
Packets Redirected: 8
Connect Time: 01:00:35

Cache Engine use Squid 2.4stable 1:
wccp_version 4

The packets redirect to Cache Engine is very slow (you can see there only redirect 8 packets) when I am surfing internet and Internet browser finally is time out.

Even Cisco forums, no one advise me.

CHEERS
