some Question about synology diskstation

I have a friend who uses Synology diskstation at home.
The address he gave me was
Code:
xyz.synology.me
Question1:
I was wonder what is the ip address of the diskstation so i can directly connect to it without using xyz.synology.me.
**just want to know.

I have not much knowledge of data server and networking stuff..
I know there is no static ip address service in most of "this kind of data server" user home, much like my own home.. it is dynamic ip addressing.
Question2:
Is it because we have dynamic public ip addressing; that's why Synology diskstation is build in such way that it will update synology company server of what the new ip to the "synology diskstation" once the public ip is expired and renewed ?
But does that means i can't find out what is the direct ip address to my friend's house ?
There should be some networking tool that can convert an URL (such as xyz.synology.me ) to ip address right ?
Or maybe firewall on my computer can tell the direct ip address to the diskstation ?

I am not familiar with networking terms and phrases.. so i used those words which might be totally off at above.

Pls enlighten me.

Question3:
I was connected to my friend xyz.synology.me diskstation (it uses port 5001 and ssh) .
I setup my computer to connect to his disk station (i used dolphin file manager to do webdavs connection and uses the same login and password which my wife uses all the time);
I can only manage to download files from his diskstation and create new folder in his diskstation, but i CAN'T upload file from my laptop to his workstation.. it just won't upload (just holding there for long time).
However, When i tried with my wife laptop simulataneously, it is capable of upload just fine.

I also tried to use web browser interface to upload the very same time; i can upload without problem.

The funny thing is that, i tried again at night that day, it manages to upload just fine..

WHY ?
Is there anything that the synology diskstation (data server) can "see" that my laptop is difference from my wife laptop; hence locked me.. which is why i was not able to upload ?

thx

1) Just ping xyz.synology.me

2) Synology has its on dynamic IP address service. Basically the NAS sends your friends public IP address to Synology and their dynamic IP service setups DNS so that their IP address resolves to xyz.synology.me. There are several dynamic IP services.

3) Without knowing how your friends NAS is configured I would have no way of knowing why it works on one PC versus the other.

I suspect that your friends desktop does not have an actual IP on the internet, but that his machine is on a LAN with a private IP and behind a router that provides NAT (as are most of us).
xyz.synology.me probably is a server that your friends desktop is in constant contact with so you would need to contact the server in order for you to connect to your friends desktop or vice versa. The server would act as a relay between machines, and the xyz simply tells the server where to pass your connection to.

This is similar to how I connect to my home PC media server from the internet.
