Solaris won't connect via telnet to linux 8.0
This is driving me crazy. I have recently built up 3 redhat 8.0 workstations. I did a complete install and the machines are working just fine. I can telnet to each of the machines just fine from other linux boxes so I know that the telnet service is running. If I try to connect to a linux box from one of my solaris 5.8 machines I get a message that I am connected but I never get a login prompt. It just hangs for eternity. Similarly if I try to connect from a windows PC dos prompt it hangs.
Are there any default authentication systems running that are happy when a linux box talks to another linux box but don't get the right information when a solaris box makes a request.
Similarly if I try to display a remote X session from a sun to the linux box it hangs also. I suspect the problems are interconnected
Any help is appreciated
