Question Socket "setsockopt" question

Kind of strange, but is there anyway in which "setsockopt" options set on a socket on client side affect the socket behavior on the server?

There is a server and client communicating with sockets IPC. Client has set socket option SO_LINGER and a few other.
Would this affect the socket behavior on Server side in any way? I don't think it should but we are facing a strange situation at one of our customer premises, so thought of putting this up.

thoughts ?

Pranay
