So what ethernet card is supported "as standard" by 2.2.19 kernel?...

... I've given up trying to get any life out of my Netgear FA311 (natsemi.o) cards. I want to buy a new card but I want the automatic detection to find it. Any tips? I'm look at the Geniue GF100TXRII V2. This uses the Realtek 8139C chipset. From what I can tell I shouldn't have problems with this?? I want to be sure before I go an order, I don't want to have another network card sitting there doing nothing.

Thanks in advance,

Simon

I haven't used that particular card, but other 8139-based cards worked fine for me when I was using 2.2.14. The 8139 chipset is supported by the rtl8139.o module in 2.2.x.
Later kernels (>2.4.x, I believe) use the 8139too.o module.

I've answered a lot of questions from people about problems with 8139. I've got one... it worked for me straight off and has never given me trouble. I've only ever answered questions about 3coms when they're ISA and someone needed to know to modprobe an Irq. 3Com is hard to beat, but a beast to pay for new. Supported under 2.2.19: all of them.

Cheers,

Finegan
