SYS 1) configured as a firewall which runs only iptables, no other service runs on this system and connected to internet and as well as to LAN HUB, main gateway for this server is my ISP's gateway.
SYS 2 & 3) two servers are configured as a sendmail servers. and gateway for these two servers are my firewall system ip
Now I have configured my firewall in such away that i can deliver mails and recieve mails to / from outside network from / to my local servers SYS 2 & 3.
NOW here is the problem
================
I am not able to send mails from local system SYS 2 to SYS 3
let say i want to send mail from SYS 2 (root@sys2.mydomain.com) to (root@sys3.mydomain.com) , but it says Deffered : Connection Fefused by sys1.mydomain.com) when i send mail from SYS 2.
i tried to fix the problem, but i am succeeded. can anyone help on what i am missing and what to be done to fix my problem.
I have another system SYS 4 , which is directly connected to the internet but it is also in the same domain "mydomain.com". But I can able to send mails from my other local two Systems SYS 2 & 3 to this server.
So i hope, the problem might be with the Firewall only.
when i try to connect SMTP on SYS2 from SYS3 using local ip . i can able to connect it. but i am not able connect using external ip.
the domains sys2.mydomain.com, sys3.mydomain.com, sys4.mydomain.com are assigned with external ip addresses at my DNS server.
so when i try to connect any of the SMTP server from local it is trying to connect other SMTP server with external ip address and failing to make the connection.
Thanks for the help, it worked for the static domains which i am using for my regular servers.
But here I am having another problem now. My mail servers will serve for multiple sub domains other than one i mentioned here earlier.
Like sys1.mydomain.com will server for hostname1.mydomain.com,hostname2.mydomain.com
with out entering these values in /etc/mail/mailertable, can't i send mails to other domains i mentioned above from each server.
let say as of you solutions , i have to configure both my local systems SYS2 and SYS3 for mailertable to update MX lookups.
my servers runs for virtual domains, which are dynamically created by scripts and i do not have feature to add an entry in mailertable . i hope you understand what i mean to say.
how come i solve this problem with out entering my virtual domains in mailer table
and main important thing i have to maintain this info in all of the servers for mailertable.
any way thanks again for you help and advance greeting for this problem
