smbmount errors on Debian

I'm trying to get a Debian workstation to connect to a Windows 2000 Server. When I run smbmount (smbmount //computername/share /mnt/directory) I get the following message:

tbd((null)): tbd_open_ex : could not open file /var/run/samba/unexpected.tbd: No such file or directory

Then it asks for the password. I type the password in and then I get.

session setup failed: ERRDOS - ERRnoaccess (Access denied.)
SMB connection failed

Anyone have any ideas what that means? Does anyone know what the file, /var/run/samba/unexpected.tbd, is for? Has anyone ever seen this before? I've done this type of thing many times before with other distributions and all have worked flawlessly. Also, my smb.conf file that I am using with Debian is identical to those other systems. Anyone know what might be going on here?
