Question Sharing internet with Squid

Hey There,

Okay i am totally new to linux, still school expects me to build a network with 2 linux servers (one DHCP, the other a Proxy that also shares the Inet for the workgroup).
I do have some experience with windows servers so I did not worry 2 much, but it is much harder then I expected. There are also 2 windows servers in this project but wont have an effect on the network

Anyhow..
The DHCP server is already up and running (thanks webmin) but the Proxy server doesn’t want to work.
Its an old 300Mhz system with CentOS and 2 Nic’s installed , one has an internet connection from my local network switch and with a static IP I get Internet.

The other is for the workgroup of this assignment. No I have fooled around with Squid in webmin. And then the nic of the workgroup goes down, then I lose the internet on the other network card and so on…
So I was wondering if there is an easy to follow tutorial around for webmin to get the internet sharing with Squid.

Any help would be very nice since the project should have been done like .. today.. so I hope to get everything working before firday

Are you married to CentOS and Webmin? There's a number of good step-by-step tutorials for Squid on other distro's, like Debian:

http://www.howtoforge.com/debian_ebox

Squid is really not that hard to configure outside of Webmin--it's simply a matter of changing some text files. The files themselves are well documented, too. If you need to stick with CentOS, I strongly encourage you to drop the Webmin requirement and look into the configuration files.

Finally, since you're doing this for a school, you may wish to look at Dans Guardian after you get Squid running.
