I have a Linux machine running Koppix live CD, how do I share the hard drives on the machine to the network. The other pc's are running WinXP.

in the smb.conf file add something like this:

[somename]
comment = some comment
path = /whatever drive you wish to share
guest ok = yes or no
public = yes

do this for each 'drive' you wish to share...tho its more like you are sharing folders rather than drives

then in xp right click on my computer and choose map network drive: choose a drive letter, then where it asks for folder type:
//yourgroupname(probably mshome)/somename(as written in the smb.conf file in the [brackets])

make sure smbd and nmbd are running, and you've shared your drives

You need to use SAMBA. That's the windows network file sharing gizmo. I don't know much about it i'm afraid, though.

Yes, you do need Samba to do what you want. I would also get Webmin to configure and administer Samba. You can get it here:
