Setup Network Card using terminal instead of graphical tools

Hello,

I've been using Linux on and off. Since, every new version will change a lot of setting and a lot of new tools. I am unable to follow. Could anyone tell me how do I configure a network card by just modifying the appropriate configur files.

For a slackware install look at /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf to do network device set up. The location of this file maybe different in the distribution you use but will be named very similar. Also look at /etc/resolv.conf to set DNS server addresses.

Friend you forgot to tell us about your distro.

@ redhat distro : you got to edit & configure /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth<0/1/2/3> for the same.
