Setting Linux up as a Network Storage Device

Situation:

WAN/LAN
Static IP address Windoze Desktop
Static IP address Novell and Linux servers

Want to setup linux server at remote location to take load off WAN for homdrum files which need to be stored at the main office. Then upload the files at NIGHT when network traffic and users are Zero using a cron job to move files to main office.

Question:

Is there a way to setup a Linux box so that Windoze can map a drive to it, save files to it, without having the windoze login first?

TIA

Yes, you would need to run Samba on the Linux machine, and configure it to have a publicly available share that requires no password. You could then specify the Windows machine's IP as the only one to allow to use the share, which would make it more secure (if this data is something you don't want others to get to).
