a detailed sendmail configuration normally takes up about 800 pages.....

if your system has a suitable default configuration, all you might need to do is comment out the line which restricts it to the server only... can't rmemeber what it actually says... but it will say "127.0.0.1" in the line... put "dnl" at the start and try restarting the server.

ok u have to do the following steps to run sendmail :
if it install go to line 85 in sendmail.mc and commend the line with dnl
then use the m4 preprocessor to generate u r sendmail.cf
m4 /etc/mail/sendmail.mc > /etc/mail/sendmail.cf
go to line 95 in sendmail.cf
u well find
#Dj$w.Foo.COM
change it for example to
DjYaan.com
in u r dns file in var/named/ if u have dns u have to put
MX 10 Yaan.com

service sendmail restart

and do
in command line of course as root
telnet 127.0.0.1 25
to insure that sendmail is listining in port 25

u must see
220 Yaan.com ESMTP Sendmail 8.12.8/8.12.8; Tue, 16 Sep 2003 14:04:37 +0300
after that insert u r users

with adduser username
and with /etc/aliase
convert the users name
and have afun its short note but its usefull
