Samba: Removing password on Linux from Windows sharing

I have set up samba on my Linux server so that all the windows machines can both read and write to it without asking for password verification. As it is a home network i am not fussed about locking people out of certain areas. However if i attempt to use a Linux machine to access the shared dorectories offered by the Windows machines (using nautilus) then i get asked to enter a password before i can view the contenst of the folders. I can type in any random rubbish for a user name and password and it then gives me access. This is starting to irriate me as i am shifting lots of files around at the moment and so wish to disable this feature so that it gives me access without asking for a password.

I have had a google and have found that it seems to be related to the client set up rather than the samba set up on the server, however i can not find a guide on how to rectify this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers in advance,

nairnie

Try this...run to the winbloze box that's prompting you for a passwd, go to Control Panel and User Management or whatever it's called. Add a user with the Linux hostname with no passwd. Unlike win98, there's no such thing as public share on w2k or xp, it'll prompt you even tho no passwd is needed. Hope that'll do it.
