I am trying to get samba to work on my system (SuSe 9.2 Pro). I have been having trouble accessing my windows XP machines from my linux box. I have configured samba through Yast and I can not access any other computers on my network. I have modified my firewall settings to allow the samba ports to be open. During my initial setup I selected Primary Domain Controller and I thought that would solve my problem but I was wrong. I am not part of a domain, I am part of a workgroup. So I changed the setting from PDC to no DC and I can't seem to view any other computers.
When I issue the smbtree command I only see my Linux computer and not any other computer that is also on. Also I am having trouble installing a printer that is connected to a windows XP box.
So has anyone had success getting Samba to work? Does anyone know how to install a smbprinter? (printer connected to a windows machine).
Also I am not sure about this but I could have sworn I had a lan icon on my desktop when I first installed SuSe. However I have reinstalled SuSe a number of times and I no longer have that icon on my desktop, Can anyone tell me if I imagined this or not and if not then can anyone tell me the package that the lan browser is part of?
Here is my current smb.conf file:

I am not sure if I am running just the server. I know at least I am running the smbd and nmbd are running. I am able to see both the windows and linux machines in the same workgroup in the windows network neighborhood. I also noticed in my smb.conf file local master was set to yes and preferred master was set to yes. When I commented the two lines out and restarted the smbd and nmbd services I noticed that there was communication between the firewall and computers on the network. However, all the samba communication is being dropped by the firewall.
