Samba Problem connecting to Windows network and printer
Hi.
About three weeks ago I've installed linux Ubuntu 8.04 hardy on my office lab laptop. The first time I came to the lab I tried to connect to the lab shared printer (connect to a Windows machine using USB).I've performed the configuration wizard and all seems to be OK: I can install the printer and print my docs.
However this week I've tried to print some pdf but there was no response from the printer... So I've checked the printer configuration and the network configuration and I found out that I am non longer able to connect to any machine in the lab network, even if I am connected to the LAN correctly (Internet works fine).
After spending some time looking for a solution I've figured that this may be a Samba related problem. When I try to connect to other computer on the LAN using Places>Connect to server and Windows setting I got this error: Unable to show position <<smb://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/>>, No application to manage this file type.
(I've translated this error message from Italian, so it may be not exactly as is shown in english.)
This is strange because I could see shared folders on other Win computer the first time I tried.
Is it possible that some package I've installed has generate this error?
Any suggestion?
Thanks.
