samba on linux;

hello All,
i do not know how many of you use samba but i want to use it. or how many of your are familiar with any version of mac os x. However, is there any way i can mount my /home diresctory onto my desktop on mac os x. i did it on windows where i enabled file sharing for personal and network and i can easily mount all my drives on my desktop and access all of them on my powebook. if there is a way, can u tell me. Now I know i can just use ftp or sftp but I would like to know if i can access the directories via Apple File Sharing or Samba.
Thanks,
Syed Zaidi

hi Syed.

well, if you have samba started (check out this if you haven't)

you should be able to right click on a folder and choose share (you must have sharing enabled) in the gui mode.

On the mac, go to "system preferences", "sharing" (under internet and networking) and make sure that windows file sharing is enabled. then go to finder and look at the network. Look in the folder of choice, when you find the share you want, double click on it, authenticate, and mount the share.
