Samba map drive home

Hello,

Here is my situation

I am at work (behind a firewall that allows outgoing conections over any port)

I would like to map a drive to my linux machine at home.

The linux box sits behind a wireless router.

I have opened up ports 137,138,139 and mapped them to the private IP of my linux machine.

when i type

\\xx.xx.xx.xxx\username

from my windows map drive prompt it says "canot find etc.."

any help is greatly appreciated!

Regards,
MW

I would strongly suggest you look at the PoPTop project for your Linux box, then use a vpn PPTP client to access the shares.

Thanks for the reply!

What is the advantage of using this????

I think setting up VPN would be too complicated for this situation. All I would like to do is type in the IP (real internet) of my router, over a certain port (I'm thinking 139 or 445) and have it give access to a share on my linux machine.

Any comments/help is greatly appreciated!

MW
