Samba config question

Hello all ,
I'm having trouble configuring my samba client to share my home directory. Any change i make in the client (using KDE 3.5 control center) goes back to default settings once i exit the application and or reboot my pc. I was just curious if I should stop wasting my time and go straight into the config file? Or is there something I am doing wrong? Thanks in advance =D

I say go directly into the config file. Its so eazy and well documented that a gui is really not needed.
