Samba can read, but not write

Hi,

seem to have got everything working save that users can't seem to write to the share. Help is appreciated.

Here is my samba.conf (edited out names in CAPS).

# Global parameters
[global]
workgroup = WORKGROUPNAME
server string = SERVERNAME
interfaces = eth1
encrypt passwords = Yes
update encrypted = Yes
smb passwd file = /.../PASSFILE
name resolve order = host bcast
local master = No
domain master = True
lock dir = /tmp/samba

[Devel]
comment = Development Server
path = /devel
force user = dev
read only = No

Thanks,
Saeven

Looking at the log.smbd file, this is what is says when I try to create a new directory:

open_directory: unable to create New Folder (2). Error was Permission denied.

Samba can't override linux permissions. Who owns the directory? If everybody can read/write then set the permission to 777.

Thanks.

Looking into permissions I read that even though a user is on the admin list in smb.conf, he still doesn't get write access even though the share is writable. I had to add

write list = username

and that did the trick.

Cheers.
