Question Samba and Windows

i am running samba for a lab to use obviously as a file server. i can go into Linux and set the permissions for the folders and files in the shared directory. what I was wondering was if there was a way to be able to set the permissions for the files and folders from windows? when i map a network drive i want to be able to change the permissions from my windows machine. i thought i read somewhere that you could do this. if somebody could help me out that would be great. thanks.

I don't really know if there is a direct way to do this from Windows because I am a newbie. However, what you can do is set up SSH on the linux computer and connect to it from a Windows computer using a SSH client and then change the permissions using a remote shell.
