Unhappy SAMBA & SWAT - Connection refused when attempting to connect Localhost:901

Hello again. I have tried looking at all of the posts I can find here and at other forums but haven't been able to find a solution yet. I am trying to use SWAT to connect to SAMBA to do my configuration. I am having no luck at all. I do have SAMBA up and running and can access files from the network just fine. It's just frustrating when you can't get something to work like everybody says it should. When I do try and connect I get the following message: "The connection was refused when attempting to connect Localhost:901". I have followed the instructions as posted on another thread (robertmarkbram - Problems with swat and inetd) and have performed evrything verbatim. My /etc/xinetd.d/swat file looks just like the one in the thread:

#default: off
#description: SWAT is the Samba Web Admin Tool. Use swat to configure your Samba #server. To use swat connect to port 901 with your favorite browser.

service swat
{
port = 901
socket_type = stream
wait = no
only_from = 127.0.0.1
user = root
server = /usr/sbin/swat
log_on_failure += USERID
disable = no
}
I have restarted xinetd and forced a configuration reload (/etc/rc.d/init.d/xinetd reload followed by /etc/rc.d/init.d/xinetd restart). I have totally disabled the firewall from the graphical inteface (Lokkit). I have tried everything that I can find. Is there something blatant that i am missing or could it be something not even having to do with samba or swat? Any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance.

What browser are you using? Do you get a prompt for a password?

I had trouble connecting to SWAT using LINKS because it didn't prompt for a user-name (root) and password.

How about swat, do you have that installed and started?
There are a couple of ways to check......
Type:whereis swat and it should return /usr/sbin/swat and some other stuff.
Type:chkconfig --list swat to see if the service is running. If it returns swat off you could start it with the command chkconfig swat on or start up a Redhat GUI tool with the command: redhat-config-services and check the swat box.

If it turns out to not be installed, you could use:apt-get install samba-swat

There are a couple of things to look at.
