Samba 3 - changing passwords from windows

Hi

I have such a problem:

I have a Red Hat 9 machine running Samba 3 as a PDC. When I'm trying to change password from a XP Pro machine I receive a message:

"Domain my_domain is not available, unable to change password"

but password is changed !!!

Part of my smb.conf:

security = user
encrypt passwords = yes
passdb backend = tdbsam:/etc/samba/passdb.tdb
unix password sync = Yes
username map = /etc/samba/smbusers
passwd program = /usr/bin/passwd %u
passwd chat = *New*password* %n\n *Retype*new*password* %n\n *passwd:*all*authentication*tokens*updated*successfully*
log level = 3
wins support = yes
socket options = TCP_NODELAY SO_RCVBUF=8192 SO_SNDBUF=8192
local master = yes
os level = 60
domain master = yes
preferred master = yes
domain logons = yes
dns proxy = no
hide dot files = Yes

Any ideas ?

not an answer but...

I have pretty much the same prob ( same distro ):

Browsing/sharing/logging on the samba PDC works but :

On login, i have a message telling me the password expires today.

If i try to change it, i have the message telling me that the domain is not available

Any clues to stop this "password expiry" issue?

smb/conf part :

security = user
encrypt passwords = yes
username map = /etc/samba/smbusers
passwd program = /usr/bin/passwd %u
passwd chat = *New*password* %n\n *Retype*new*password* %n\n *passwd:*all*authentication*tokens*updated*successfully*
wins support = yes
socket options = TCP_NODELAY SO_RCVBUF=8192 SO_SNDBUF=8192
local master = yes
os level = 99
domain master = yes
preferred master = yes
domain logons = yes
dns proxy = no

First upgrade Samba to 3.0.4 or higher. My problem was an XP security hotfix from Microsoft (issued about april) and Samba 3.0.2. Upgrading had helped.

You can adjust password expiration (and other stuff) using

pdbedit -P <policy string>.

Just read man pdbedit.
