I use RedHat9 as a small office network server. There is samba file server on it.
I have setted up samba with the "Samba Server Configuration" tool (wizard) like this:

Workgroup: myworkgroup
Description: samba

Security
Authentication Mode: User
Encrypt Passwords: Yes
Guest Account: myaccountname

After that I made a samba users

After that I made a share

Directory: /home/myaccount
Basic Premissions: Read/Write

Only allow access to specific users: my_samba_username

It doesn't work. If I want to see the shared files by windows XP (throug "My Network Place"), it asks me the password, I type the password
but it's nothing happen.

Can somebody help me setting up the samba server?

run testparm to debug ur smb.conf file

and add a samba user as

root@gaurav:/# smbpasswd -a gaurav
New SMB password:
Retype new SMB password:
Added user gaurav.

this user has to be system user first and then only he can be a samba user
and then use this from windows machine
