Question Restricting access to Internet

Dear Members,

I've one squid proxy server (192.168.1.1) providing internet access to our staff, who have windows/linux desktops. I've blocked some sites for some IP addresses using acl in squid.conf. Its working fine. Now problem is that some naughty users change their IP addresses and then access blocked sites.

for example, the IP (192.168.1.50) is assigned to administrator machine which has unrestricted access. Sometimes when admin is not there and the mahcine is powered off, some user assign this IP to his machine and access internet.

Plz give me any idea as how can I stop such practice. Is there any way to bind IP with MAC address and can be checked at squid machine. All machines in my network has static IPs.

thanks

Jai

Yes you can bind mac address in squid.

See this http://www.linuxsolved.com/linux-for...cl-t475.0.html

Hope that helps..
