remote login via knoppix

I want to be able to load Knoppix up on a remote desktop, possibly at work, login to my home computer and basically impress whoever is in the vicinity.

I'm thinking that I will need to use ssh? telnet? I'm not sure exactly what I am going to need to do...

If you can point me in the right direction, or any relevant tutorials available it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance...

okay first, what is your home computer running? linux or windows? if it is linux than you need to run either a telnet or ssh server. ssh is the preferd method for security reasons. now if it is a windows machine, you need to download CYGWIN which comes with OpenSSHD as one of its package choices. you can also pull a telnet server off the net for windows but i advise against it. either way you should be hosted. now from work you have two choices. boot into knoppix and use ssh/telnet, or download putty and run it in windows. when you are in knoppix can you access the internet? can you surf? your work might be behind a firewall and proxy. if that is the case, use windows because it is near impossible to compile the required software you need to use the proxy to connect to the net. in windows, goto Internet Explorer. Click tools-Internet Options. Select Connections Tab and click "Lan Settings". If you use a proxy, than it will show up under "Proxy Settings". just write down the IP and port. download PuTTY (goto google.com and type PuTTY, should be first one). now, when putty loads enter in your home IP address. select SSH. now click on Proxy under connections on the left. enter in the IP address that you wrote down and put the port number in. select HTTP. click session on the left and than type in a nick name for these settings like "home". than click save. than click open, you should connect. if your not behind a proxy, go into knoppix, open terminal and type: ssh home.ip.right.here
and you should connect. hope this helps!!
