redhat 9 via-rhine eth0 error

Hi guys,

Before installing the latest rh 9 kernel 2.4.20-30, my network card under kernel 2.4.20-8 was working properly, i could go online and all other internet stuff. But after getting the latest kernel, i've got this via-rhine eth0 - failed during start up message.

Can someone kind enough to share what exactly happened? and what's the solution. Many thanks in advance.

The ethernet card is probably not configured in your kernel or it is configured as a module and has to be enabled. Try running modprobe via-rhine

Or recompile the kernel with via-rhine support (under Networking devices--> 100 MB cards
