I have setup a linux RedHat 8.0 server that has been running for quite some time. A few days ago, we had a power outage and my red hat connection has not been working properly.
I can...
1. Browser the Web - send outgoing requests
2. Ping my website cabcministries.org
I can't
1. See my website cabcministries.org
2. ssh to my website.
Some odd things that I see...
1- /var/log/secure (is this normal)

Should there be that many httpds running?
It seems like something larger than just my apache and ssh daemons are down.
1. What "redhat connection" isn't working - is this from the redhat server to the internet?
2. When you browse - is the browser running on the redhat box? Are you using the RH box as a router? is it hosting your website? or some combination of the above? Sorry, but these are all possible and I can't guess which.
3. The stuff in /var/log/secure sounds normal enough to me, IF someone has made an FTP connection, someone typed a wrong password into the screensaver and you are using sgi_fam. If not, then it's suspicious.
4. apache does run as several processes called httpd - there's a config directive saying how many to start up which comes set to "StartServers 8" - see /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf.
1. redhat connection? - this is just the term that I am trying to use to explain the problem. Basically it means that no one can access my server from the outside via http, ssh.
2- I am hosting a website. All I was saying concerning browsing, was that I able to do this. I can surf the web so it is not like my router (netgear) or my dsl connection (earthlink) is down.
Sorry about my bad explainations. I really don't know what is going on. All I know is that I once had a server that worked, but no people can no longer get to my website. This is not a problem with domain/ip mapping. I have tested that already.
first step :
all from server console
ping 127.0.0.1 ok ? ( no netcard problem )
ping IPofyourserver ok ? ( no netcard problem)
lynx 127.0.0.1 ok ? ( no apache problem )
ssh 127.0.0.1 ok ? (ssh deamon problem )
do this from other computer
problem may be with route or firewall
