Read *.mdb from mounted share

Hi,
I am using PHP 5.3.1 and the mdbtools extension to read data from a MS Access database (.mdb): this works fine if I copy the .mdb file to my Home directory. If I mount the remote Windows share (where the mdb file is originally located) on my Linux box, I cannot access the mdb file; in a console isql will not work either with te mounted mdb file. I can access other files (pdf, text, docs) fine on the mounted share. As a test I set permissions on the mount directory to 777, but no success. Has this something to do with permissions or is it a limitation inherent to the mdbtools odbc driver ?

Thank you for any advice.
