QMail won't receive internal emails when no internet connection

I have a RH9 working as a server with QMAIL as a mailserver. The server connects to the net via a gateway and when there is a connection, everything is fine.
When there is no internet, QMAIL won't even receive the internal emails, they will stay in my client's outbox until the internet connection resumes.

I've checked /etc/hosts it looks ok, and I have even installed an internal DNS server here, but it did not change anyting.

Anyone could help on this ?

Thanks,

@lex

Resolv.conf looks ok.

I don't know about the MX record. Can you explain what I should do ? I guess I should create it in the local DNS, right ?

yes, u are right. mx means mail exchanger.
like this:

@ 1D IN MX 10 mail
mail 1D IN A 212.1.1.5

so your mail exchanger for yourdomain.com will be mail.yourdomain.com

i hope this help u

Ok, thanks.

However, the things are a bit more complicated as I run a caching DNS under windows here and I am not hosting an internet domain name, just a local domain name.
But I should manage.
What DNS would you recommend for RH9 ?
