Problems connecting to internet

Just recently I purchased and installed SuSe 8.2 Personal. I had no trouble installing. I did have trouble getting the internet set up. I have set up KInternet to dial my ISP, which it does just fine. It will log on and start PPP just fine. The problem is, once connected, no web pages/IP addresses will resolve. I am not able to ping anywhere except my own machine (not even the ISP, whose IP I got from ifconfig). I checked the route table, and it appears to be fine. KInternet reports that there is no problem with the nameserver, either. It works fine on my Windows partition, which I would love to delete as soon as I get this problem fixed. Could anyone offer any insight or suggestions as to what I could do to solve this problem?

Can you post the output of:
ifconfig
route -n
cat /etc/resolv.conf
ping www.linuxquestions.org
ping 64.179.4.146

Looks ok to me, only thing I can thing of is maybe you have an incorrect web proxy set, there is an option to set a proxy enviroment variable set deep in yast somewhere.

What do you get when you try a trace:
traceroute 64.179.4.146
traceroute 63.152.0.245

I do not use a proxy, and I have that disabled so I'm pretty sure that's not the problem. Here's the traceroute output, it took a while for it to finish the first one. Seeme weird to me that I can traceroute 64.179.4.146 but not ping.

linux:~ # traceroute 64.179.4.146
traceroute to 64.179.4.146 (64.179.4.146), 30 hops max, 40 byte packets

Do you have anything blocking outgoing connections in iptables? Post the output of:
iptables -L

Sorry I haven't been able to reply for a couple days, but a new problem came up (with Windows). Seems a bad sector came up on the hard disk, causing dial up networking not to work, had to re-install Windows, which took grub out of the mbr, so now I can't boot to Linux. How do I get into Linux without re-installing it?
