Unhappy problem with dns resolving

hi everyone,

i have a little problem concerning my Internet connection. Although i have properly configured the DNS servers in /etc/resolv.conf my web browsers cannot resolve all the hostnames (i have noticed that only .gr pages are properly viewed). All the other Internet applications ( file sharing, irc, etc.) seem to work fine. i would appreciate all the help you can give. I use Slackware 10.1. If you need further information just ask it. Thanks in advance.

Hi, I recently had similar problems to you and the way I got round this was to use external name servers (to my adsl router). If you want to use name servers based in the uk, add these lines to your /etc/resolv.conf:
Code:
nameserver 62.41.128.51
nameserver 62.41.128.52
I'm sorry I don't have a better answer, I would love one myself! You can use them until some one can figure out the problem I suppose. Maybe try asking your ISP for their nameservers IP's if you want some closer to home.

I suppose it should really only a temporary solution, but if it is a faulty nameserver in your router/isp then I suppose it's the only option. Glad to here it worked, and welcome to Linux Questions
