Problem with 'KeepAlive' in AMSN

I am currently using AMSN connecting through a proxy, when the 'KeepAlive' option is enabled, a dummy package will be sent to the server to keep the connection up. But the problem with my connection is that it disconnects under 2 minutes and that's even before a dummy package could be sent. I've reported this to the developers already but does anyone here know how to remedy this problem?
