Problem setting network for KVM

Hi,

I've spent a few days trying to make my virtual machine access the network. I can't even get the host to connect to the guest. I can ping it but it's as far as I can go. I have a server running Ubuntu and I have been following this tutorial : http://www.howtoforge.com/virtualiza...on-ubuntu-9.04

I can't get bridge to work, I have tried tap network and it worked but after a reboot it doesn't work anymore. I think I'm really close to it and it's really frustrating not having a working solution after so much time!

If someone has experience with setting up kvm on ubuntu I'd like to talk to you and work this out please. I could even pay you if you can help me.

Thanks a lot.

Hello Khao8

Can't tell you yet but I'm setting up KVM on ubuntu 8.04. I've installed bridge-utils 1.2-2 (as part of installing kvm 1:62+dfsg-0ubuntu8.2) and uml-utilities 20070815-1 (required for the way VirtualBox' uses bridging).

This is working OK for VirtualBox.

Now I'm working out how to set up a KVM virtual machine and install an OS. I will tell you what I learn regards bridged and tap networking when I get there.

In case it helps, my /etc/network/interfaces file is posted in this LQ thread. It is for VirtualBox but may give you some clues.

Best

Charles
