problem configuring NIS on Fedora 4 Server

hi, am having problem while configuring NIS on my server .all the other services are working fine.is there anyone who could assist me in letting me know which services are complusory prior to configuring NIS.let me tell that i havent installed any firewall on my server that is no iptables or ipchains rpms...

well if you really want me to help, i'll help by saying don't use NIS, there are so many secuirty flaws, problems and it's not easy to setup, try ldap i have a fair bit of information on LDAP on my website listed below, check it out if you want.

you might want to look at setting up a web based LDAP interface like phpladpadmin or LAM, most people find are going to ldap route over NIS these days ... just a suggestion.
