Printing from SuSE 10 to WinXP via Samba
I am trying to print to my XP printer from my Linux box via WiFi. (This topic is not really relative to wireless networking, so I stuck it in this forum.) It's a dual-boot machine with SuSE 10 and Windows XP. I can print fine using XP, but Linux is where I am having problems.
I have tried YaST2 and the KDE Print Manager tools to set up the printer. Both can send the document successfully, but Samba is most likely the part where I am having problems. Once it is sent to Samba, it gets sent out to Windows as "Remote Downlevel Document." (I'll refer to this as RDD.) The total size of the document will vary, but it can never manage to send more than 64 KB. I hear the printer start up, but the document will not print. And once the RDD is added to the Windows queue, it is nearly impossible to delete. I cant cancel the document at all; instead I have an odd workaround of shutting down the print service, deleting the printer, then starting back up the service and adding the printer.
I have all of the drivers and stuff, and I am sure that the connection settings are correct.
My network setup:
Linux PC <-> Wireless Router <-> Windows PC -> Printer
Note that the printer is wired to the PC, not directly to the router.
Any help?
