Printing from Linux via XP

can anyone help me set up a printer on the Linux to print through a shared printer on my XP machine?

I have tried to set it up through the Control Centre and it appears to accept the configuration but nothing prints.

I first of all set the printer to be shared in XP

Then in Linux I went to the Control Centre > hardware > Printer > Add new printer:
Printer on SMB/Windows server
Set Host/Share name/Workgroup
then selected the appropriate printer from the list

I had to give my guest account a password and make the URI on linux = guest:guest@<hostname>/<sharename> This was the only way I could get XP to let me in. By def the Guest account has no password, but the SMB connection appears to fail if you supply a name but no pass. You could add a new account specifically for the print share if you want guest to remain unpassworded.

Check the samba log, this should give you some idea whats happening to the connection

Cheers
