printer setup problem
Hi all,
I have a home server running Slackware 9.1. I also have a Lexmark z45 printer attached to it.
From browsing the Internet I understood that this printer does not have a Linux driver but it works with the z43 driver.
I successfully installed the printer on my server and it works fine with CUPS.
The problem is that I cannot make the clients (Windows XP) use this printer.
When I start the "add printer" wizard on XP it says that it can’t get a driver from the server.
Then when I install the driver on the client I still cannot print.
I issued the following commands:
smbpasswd –a user1
smbpasswd –a root
cupsaddsmb –U user1 –a
cupsaddsmb –U root –a
What kind of a driver do I need on the client (The original z45 or the z43)?
Do I need to uninstall the lprng and the apsfilter from the server?
Where should I look for the problem on the server or the client?
Here is my smb.conf file:
