Please excuse my ignorance, I'm pretty new to Linux and very new to Postfix.

I have set up an internal webserver for my fellow employees to submit workorders. I want to use the mailto function in php. So, I've attempted to set up Postfix on the server.

Can I configure Postfix so that it can send mail out to our corporate email server (on the internet)? The Postfix server is connected to the internet through a firewall. Could I set the server up just to relay mail to the corporate email server?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

yes you can send mail out to any mail server. You could also set it up to recieve mail for your users if you want


Read through the config file, /etc/postfix/main.cf

It has good comments about what things do.
Just don't change a lot of stuff that you don't know what it does. You really don't need to.
Let us know if you have a problem.


As far as the firewall goes, of course you will need to make sure that the mail can get through it.
