PopTop vpn server problem

Hello there

I am a Linux newbie and have been playing with a small Slackware 8.1 linux server at home. I now want to install vpn server on my linux box so I can connect to the server with Windows 2000 client from work. I picked up PopTop tarball and installed. I have been trying different options in the configuration files, /etc/ppp/options.pptpd /etc/ppp/chap-secrets but I can't
get the darn thing to work. These lines are appended to the syslog each time i try to connect with my win2k client.

Feb 25 11:11:55 bjorninn pppd[10921]: LCP: timeout sending Config-Requests
Feb 25 11:11:55 bjorninn pptpd[10920]: GRE: read(fd=5,buffer=804db80,len=8196) from PTY failed: status = -1 error = Input/output error
Feb 25 11:11:55 bjorninn pptpd[10920]: CTRL: PTY read or GRE write failed (pty,gre)=(5,6)

Any idea anyone??

Thank you,
Bjorn G.
