Ping hangs and Konq times out...

When I attempt to ping an address including localhost it says Ping <ip address> from <ip address> :56 bytes of data and then thats it. It only shows that one line and it will sit for atleast 10 min., I close it by then. If I attempt to go to Google.com in Konq it starts trying to connect but after a good 2 minutes it says connection timed out. Does this mean my settings are correct since it didnt say "cannot find host" ....? What can I check for the time out?
