hey there,
I use slackware 10.1 and I wanna use performance counters in order to mesure stuff from TCP activity during a transmission. Do you know if the tcp.h file is used during a transmition and in what way?(or maybe is there any other library used so that I can start/stop performance counters from there?)
@timmeke: thanx for the tip.
I'd like to measure the power consumed by tcp during the transmission of a video stream. I think that by tools like Oprofile which use performance counters you cannot be sure about the measure you get, that is you cannot measure distinct tcp action but you count other kernel activities too. Well, anyway I'll search for the packets that you recommend and let you know.
I've heard about "gkrellm", a package of monitoring tools, recently.
Maybe that's worth looking into as well.
Video using the tcp protocol?
Since tcp is a network protocol, you may be able to get some power
consumption statistics on your network card.
But I'm not sure that's what you're looking for.
