Unhappy PCMCIA Card under Smoothwall

Hi everybody,

I'm a newbie at Linux and encounterd the following problem:

I'm trying to install Smoothwall on my laptop. Smoothwall doesn't recognize my Target PCMCIA-card. If I want to configure the card manually I am prompted for the 'Modulename and its parameters'. What should I fill out here? I searched the net but couldn't find anything useful.

Anyone?

First is first....we need some specifics here,

1. What kind of laptop?
2. What distro r u using?

reason being that the new distro especially mandy 8.2 have pre-kernel pcmcia problems. I had this problem with it on a toshiba the other day. I had to load an earlier version of mandy to solve my prob.

It's an old Acernote 735C.
I don't know what distro I'm installing here. It's an installer from Smoothwall, it installs a stripped version of Linux.

Smoothwall doesn't work with pcmcia cards by itself read the manual. You'd have to do that on your own

I found some good info on the web and now have a smoothwall running on an IBM thinkpad with two PCMCIA 10/100 NICs.

You'll need to pull down the development code software and compile it on another PC. Then build a smoothwall.tgz file and use that to install on the laptop.

The only problem I have is a slight delay during bootup while the PCMCIA cards are initialized.

This *CAN* be done. Search the web [google] for info about smoothwall and laptops.
