pci


Hi,

what will be the outcome if two pci devices are trying use the same interrupt line
eg irq no = 1 , this is on linux based PC

What kinds of devices?

I've seen devices use the same IRQ before, on Windows, without problems.
It may depend on the drivers they use.

In general, IRQ sharing isn't recommended, but it is possible on modern systems.

pci devices that I was referring to are pci based network cards and pci based audio/video card.

From what I read, but I'm no expert, network cards are the most sensitive to IRQ sharing.
