Unhappy Pasv FTP Troubles

Hello everyone. It seems that when connecting to an FTP server, either via apt-get or simply the ftp client, I get the error:

Code:
Failed to fetch <FTP URL to a file> Could not connect passive socket.
What should I do to remedy this error? Thanks!

Is there a firewall and/or nat between you and the destination?
If there is, either fix the firewall to allow normal ftp connections or set the client to use passive mode.

Nope, there's none at all. Iptables is allow for input, output and forward. I have no idea what's suddenly causing this, as it's worked fine before.

Thanks.

It is possible that it is a misconfiguration at the ftp server end.

It's possible but this happens to any FTP server I connect to. Any other ideas?
