Question Openvpn client config questions

Hi all,

I've been going crazy trying to figure this out and my searches are not turning up anything.

I followed the following tuturial.
http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php..._way%29_v24%2B

Which went without any problem until I got to the client setup.

I'm running Kubuntu.

The only reference in the tutorial to client setup is a sample config file, but I can't seem to find that config file, or it's default location.

So I thought fine, I'd rather have a gui setup anyway. so I downloaded KVpnc, I'm not having any luck there either. I can't import an opnvpn config package as I don't have one. I've only got the certificates that I created. I also looked at trying to create a config package that I could just import to the openvpn client for windows, but I'm striking out all over.

I'm sure I must be missing something simple, or perhaps I don't understand linux as well as I thought. Anyway if anyone could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. I've never used openvpn, but I have used Cisco vpn client so I'm somewhat familiar with the concepts. I don't care really what client I use, so long as it works.

Background, linux wrt54G v2 with DD-wrt vpn. That part is set up correctly I believe.

thanks for the help!

Ok, I did finally make some progress

I CD'd to the directory where my keys were stored, copied the config file in the tutorial to a file in the same directory and named it client1.ovpn

then I ran the following command and it worked.

openvpn --config client1.ovpn

So then I typed the ip of the router 192.168.3.1 and I was able to see it in my browser, so I know that the connection worked.

I have two questions though.

I'd still like to set this up with a gui based vpn client like kvpnc. How do I do that? is there a way to consolidate the client keys into a package which I can import in kvpnc?

and Second. I specifically shared a folder on an XP box, but when I browse the network under smb, I don't find the box. I can see local boxes, but not the box that is on the other side of the VPN, is there something else I need to enable on DD-WRT in order to browse the network?

Sorry for all the newbe questions.
