No Wi-Fi Connectivity Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Lenovo Ideapad S110)

I have a relatively old IdeaPad S110 that has an Intel® Atom™ N570 (1.66 GHz, Dual Core) processor with 2 GB RAM and 300 GB Hard disk.

A couple of days ago I installed Ubuntu 16.04 LTS on this machine after which I realized that the Wi-Fi was not working so I plugged in TP-link (TLWN727N) USB Wi-Fi receiver and got my internet working almost instantaneously. I then ran software updates and did a search for my problem and it yielded that the problem might be due to a network switch which gets enabled if I press (Fn+F5) key simultaneously - I did that, the onboard Wi-Fi was up and I did not need the TP-Link anymore.

The next morning I woke up and it showed me an update for Ubuntu version 18.xx LTS so I upgraded it to it, however, the installation failed as Gnome display couldn't be loaded and I then to do a clean install of 16.04 LTS once again.

I now have 16.04 up & running, but my Wi-Fi doesn't work anymore and neither does (Fn+F5) for the network switch. When I press it nothing happens but all the other Fn+keys work flawlessly.

I did the following things

Code:
 lspic
No wireless adapter shows up, only Realtek Ethernet Controller

Code:
 rfkill list all
Again nothing shows up as a result

Please help and let me know if there is anything I might be doing wrong here.

Thank You
Waqas

The manufacturers of wireless cards have varied levels of support for Linux. Some chipsets work out-of-the-box with Linux; others require extra effort to get working. As regards PCI cards, my experience here tells me that Broadcom and Realtek chipsets can be problematic, but they can usually be made to work.

Manufacturers of USB wireless devices support for Linux is particularly spotty.

The first step to resolving wireless issues to find out what wireless chipset is in your wireless device. For pci wireless cards, the command lspci (list pci devices) will normally provide that information. For USB devices, the command is lsusb.
