Hi I am using samba as a domain controller, i can successfully join this domain from my winxp pro and can use the share folder. but when i use the pdbedit -Lv username to check the user info, i found all user has no NT username. but i already have the file "smbuser" in /etc/samba/ and added the mapping user information in it......
what should i check to figure out what happen ??
thanks!!

The "smbuser" user file is useful for mapping an NT user alias to a Linux user and is most commonly used to map "administrator" to "root". But all these users must exist in the samba user database. You use the command "smbpasswd" to create samba users. They must already exist as a Linux user but can have their Linux account locked if they are only going to access the system via samba. See the smbpasswd man page for the details.
yes, i totally understood and i had done all of these, so i expect to see the NT username of root (unix username) is administrator. but i am not. below is a capture of my pdbedit output
samba_server:/home/joseph# pdbedit -Lv root
Unix username: root
NT username:
Account Flags: [U ]
User SID: S-1-5-21-269864325-4252877334-377548599-1000
Primary Group SID: S-1-5-21-269864325-4252877334-377548599-1001
Full Name: root

The pdbedit output is correct. Administrator will be mapped to root and all Samba accesses will take place as root, and you will even find the user profile under "Documents and Settings" is root, not administrator.

It also blank on my system and in many cases will be blank. I'm not exactly sure when this field will be populated (short of peeking into the source code), but it's working as advertised and I wouldn't worry about this field being blank.
